Prayer to the Gods

Oh children of Achilles, Thessaly
Oh children of Odysseus, Hipperus
Oh children of Kadmus, Thebes,
we followed the crumbling worms
we chased the dream of glory
they wrote epics to honor our names
they build temples to remember us
they cherished our ideas, flaunted the daylight.

They smiled but threw snakes into our beds
they ate our women raw, and rapped our unborn infants

I forced my head to turn around once more
and look into the mystic of the past,
I saw tears and blood.
I saw the white and blue sky
I saw the calm gray waves under my temple
I saw the ancient ruins and graveyards
I was forced to wear my hood to hide my tears.

How has it come to this?
How has it come to this?
The princes now are slaves,
the kings are still forgotten
all they want to see... is our sun and sea

Oh children of Apollo,
sacred god of light, oh serpent-killer
Oh children of Zeus,
sacred god of Gods, oh father of us all
Oh children of Poseidon,
still searching for your long lost land

I invented the book
I invented the sword
I invented blood
I created water
still I have not found the cure
of this world's greatest illness;
serving an excessive lust for vengeance
